Technology in the Classroom

Technology is very important in teaching language. Most of the people in the world still use the traditional one, so we have left so far from technology in other country like America and Japan. The teacher must use Computer Assisted Language Learning (call) to improve the skill of the student. Call is the computer based material for language teaching. Today, Call has moved to access Information and Communication Technology (ICT). ICT very effective used by language teacher, because the student can access the internet and can get much knowledge from it. It just one of the reason that ITC is very effective. Beside it, ICT give learner exposure and practice in all of the four main language’s competence i.e. listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Technology provides realistic and motivating opportunities for student and teacher to develop their language skill.

Attitudes to Technology

There are there kinds of attitude to technology such as: Technophobe, who are unconfident to use technology development, Digital native (techno geek), the opposite of technophobe, who grows up using technology, fell comfortable and confident with it. Digital immigrant, who is not familiar with the use of technology. A large part of the negative attitudes teacher have towards technology is usually the result of a lack of confidence, a lack of facilities or a lack of training, resulting in an inability to see the benefit of using technologies in the classroom. It is also often the case that teachers may not be fully in control of their work situations. A teacher may want to use more technology in their teaching, but the school may not have the facilities, or on the other hand a teacher may be instructed to star using technology for which they feel unprepared or untrained.

Skill and equipment for getting started

You will need some essential equipment in order to get the most out of this book and to star to implement technology with your learners:

  1. at least on computer (preferably one per two student)
  2. an internet connection.
  3. a printer
  4. an audio card in the computer, and a headset (audio and microphone) for every computer
  5. Basic software (a word processing program, a web browser like internet explorer,

firefox , safari or mozila and email program).
